Company History

Burger and Vorster was established as a sole proprietor firm in 2003 by Willie Burger and in 2008 was converted to an incorporated company when Koos Vorster joined the firm. Willie has an office based in Pretoria, Gauteng and Koos in Potchefstroom, North West Province. Both started out in their homes as sole proprietors, but the company soon moved to professional offices. Today the practice has a staff compliment of 12 people: 8 in Pretoria and 4 in Potchefstroom.

Burger & Vorster also has a sister company registered in Stellenbosch, Western Cape – Compass Consult & Assurance as well as Willem Burger & Co Ltd, a company incorporated in the United Kingdom. Willie is a Registered Auditor (SA) and Chartered Accountant (SA, England and Wales) and Koos is a Professional Accountant (SA). Both are Registered Tax Practitioners (SA). We are an accredited SAIPA training office and provide training to some of our staff to become registered professional accountants.

What we do

Burger & Vorster is a one-stop financial services solution to small and medium enterprises. We provide services in auditing, accounting, tax advice and tax compliance, management accounting, payroll and some para-legal services (incorporation of companies and setting up trusts). Our clients are small to medium family-owned businesses in various economic sectors – from medical practitioners, professional engineers, attorneys, estate agents and insurance brokers to small manufacturers, tour operators and project managers.

We strive to add value to our customers, not only by assisting you with statutory compliance, but also with guidance and advice that entrepreneurs need to survive and thrive in a harsh global economy. We are passionate about our clients and we do only not see ourselves as professional services managers, but also as your trusted business adviser.

Corporate social responsibility

Burger & Vorster firmly believes in the concept of corporate social responsibility and that all coporates, no matter how big or small, have some responsibility towards civil society. As a firm we value primary education and therefor a bursary is awarded from time to time to deserving individuals. Currently the firm provides financial support to a high school learner and it is our privilege to be part of the education of this young individual. We also have numerous small events throughout the year to support good causes – from cancer drives to poverty awareness campaigns. This we do while having lots of FUN.
